Midsummer day is also St.John's day.

One is suppose to be able to set an egg on it's end on the soltice and it will balance. Equalibrium is so hard to come by these days. It is traditional to leap over the St. John's fire in an attempt, I suppose, to proove the superiority of the Irish over God.
