Oh, a note about Stonehenge from Intel's historians:
For the past 5,000 years, Stonehenge, a mysterious arrangement of massive boulders in the British
countryside aligned with the sunrise of the longest day, has signaled this
annual celestial event.
The first Stonehenge was a large circular earthwork, probably used
as a ceremonial meeting place about 5,000 years ago. This was followed by
timber settings between 4,900 and 4,600 years ago. The final phase came with
the erection of 'bluestones' brought from the Preseli Mountain in Wales,
followed by the building of the stone circle with Sarcen stones from the
Marlborough downs. Stonehenge finally took the form of the prehistoric temple,
the ruins of which we see today, about 4,000 years ago.
The world's first cyberspace celebration of the summer
solstice (June 21) can be accessed on the Internet's World Wide Web at
http://www.intel.com OR http://www.superscape.com. Access requires a PC
running Microsoft Windows 3.1 or Windows 95, Netscape Navigator 2.0 or higher,
and the latest version of Superscape's Viscape 3D viewer available free from
the Intel and Superscape Web sites.
Electronic screen shots, 35mm slides and video b-roll footage of Stonehenge
and other virtual worlds are available from the contacts listed below.
