System Requirements

At least a 486 or 68040, but a Pentium or Power PC is better
24mb of RAM would be very helpful
A 28.8 modem
Windows 95 or Mac O/S 7.51 or higher

The Shockwave plug-in for your platform
A sound card for PCs
Screen settings of at least 640x480/256 colors
Set your browser to use at least 16mb if possible

Using the Site

Use your browser's Options menu to get rid of toolbar, location, and directory windows
Click on the girl to start. If you see a big white rectangle with a Macromedia logo all is well--you have the right plug-ins. Just wait during the logo (good time to floss) while animation downloads.
After she reads, click on her face.
In subsequent sections, there will be a short window of time in which the moving red line will draw a recognizable object. During those times, click on the drawn object to see what else there is to see. DON'T be bothered that you are cutting off the current voice--the conversation is theoretically endless.
Everything else takes care of itself.
After seeing the site through once, you can re-visit sections using the numbered buttons on the entry page.
The entire site takes about a half an hour to see.
From the Entry Page, scroll down and click on the button labeled "Webmap" to find an idea map with links to a growing list of URLs related to this work in some way--just click on words or phrases that interest you. Use the "back" feature of your browser to return to the Entry Page.
Don't be frustrated if you have problems. I find it helpful to think of the Internet more as weather than roads, and computers more as livestock than machines. This site, like many attempting streaming audio and animation etc., will behave differently on different computers, and with different types of access.
