Carter Hodgkin
Biography

Carter Hodgkin is an artist who has been creating work for 20 years, 15 of
which have been spent in New York City. She has had one-person shows in New
York, San Francisco and Cincinnati. Her work has been featured in group
shows at museums and galleries in the United States, Japan and Europe.
	She has been the recipient of awards and grants including a fellowship in
painting from the New York Foundation for the Arts. In 1986-87, she
received fellowships from the Cummington Community for the Arts and a
printmaking fellowship from Avocet Portfolios. In 1991, she was an
artist-in-residence at Dieu Donné Papermill in New York. Her work has been
discussed and reviewed in such publications as Artforum, Art in America,
Arts Magazine, Bomb Magazine, Flash Art and Art Press. In September 1989,
her work was chosen by Art in America for the cover of their gallery guide
as representation for the "Strange Attractors-Signs of Chaos" show at the
New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York.
	In 1993 Ms. Hodgkin was a panel member for the New York Foundation for the
Arts' grant committee. She was also a keynote panel member for the
Conference on Science & Art held at Cooper Union in New York and
participated in a series of studio lectures for the State University of New
York. She has lectured on her work at Artists Space as well as been a
visiting artist at New York University.
	Ms. Hodgkin received a B.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University and
has pursued further studies at the San Francisco Art Institute, Pratt
Institute and the School of Visual Arts. She resides in New York City.
