i've read a few responses to your poem here and am
obligated share my ideas on this subject with
anyone who happens to find me in this web. i try
real hard to be an optimist. For most of my short
twenty-two year life, i've strived to hold what it
seems a lot of you already have, enjoy your gift.
It is harder for me to look at the world in it's
current situation and not look away, as i believe
many people do. People look away from horrid
images such as earthquake disasters, people with
broken bloody limbs, arms ripped apart and faces
torn from pain and suffering - hunger-bloated
stomachs in poverty stricken countries, flies
sucking the juice from the eye - supposed leaders
waging wars with our brothers and sisters for
money and oil for our damn cars - sports stars
keep us on the couch eating cheese balls and
downing Pepsi, choice for the next generation,
while spending millions of dollars to god damn
lawyers to lie their asses out murdering two
people - ahhhhhh. Therefore i've been drawn into
the realistic world that isn't so utopian and for
me to think that sitting behind a desk and
'communicating' to other beings via the internet
will forward this dwindling society towards
greater goals and aspirations, well it isn't even
optimistic. i use the internet for entertainment
like a television and a radio. Yes there are
possiblities for a great many good 'things' (as if
we need more) to come from this new technology. i
believe in the future. There is no denying it.
It is our tomorrow and while some say tomorrow
will always stay tomorrow, so living in the
present tense makes more sense, i feel that it is
necessary to till the fields of today so that the
crops of tomorrow will be furtile.
Think about this:
The internet could be connected to everyone,
maybe not directly, but indireclty. Through this
connection much good could be achieved. People
could find common ideas. People could talk about
current problems. People could rule what they
don't but should. With enough organization and
will, the world's problems could be solved in a
year, no lie. Think about it. Is this the case?
No. The internet is messy. The internet is an
escape from what goes on outside these walls and
borders and large bodies of water and mountains
and sky. The internet is an escape for those who
do not want to be part of the solution. The
internet as it stands today, is just another
problem waiting to eeerrrrupt and fall on our dumb
gazing stares into the heavens, waiting for
someone else to show us what to do. You know
what to do. Do it. Wake up! Get outside. Live
what life you've got. If you're not happy, do
something that makes you happy. Change your own
world. Make your own utopia. It's all a circle,
that is fact. Something that we will someday
learn, although it doesn't need to be taught.
Universal harmony - o. Ripple effect - ((o)).
Think your dreams, make your dreams. Theron Ball
