This exhibition, curated by Yu Yeon Kim, features three artists, Elena Berriolo, Young Jin Kim and Hiromitsu Morimoto.

Elena Berriolo, is an Italian artist resident in New York. Her voluminous, belly shaped structures are covered with richly embroidered fabrics reminiscent of priests vestments, or Roman drapes. Young Jin Kim's, recently represented Korea as an Artist in Residence at PS1. His video installation presents us with the body sequenced and displaced in time. Hiromitsu Morimoto's photography is well known in Japan and in the West. His large silver-gelatin prints on linen have a luminous quality, yet convey an insight to human presence that has both a psychological depth as well as an objective detachment.

These artists all share a fascination with the body and its processes which they approach through a metaphysical conceptualism. Their works reflect the experience of artists from contrasting cultural, ethnic and social backgrounds. Their art is at once conceptual, semiotic, metaphorical and poetic. The rich cultural diversity demonstrated in their works bears testimony to the definite imprint of their cultures. This is not to say that their art is "ethnic" for these artists are fully aware of contemporary art discourse. However, their work is specific to their experience and it is apparent that each artist in this show is strongly informed by their origins. The motif that unites the works in this exhibition is that each is describes, or is a signature for, the presence of the body. These works are inhabited. We are occasionally given definite pointers as to the nature of the dweller but a name-tag is really not required for recognition. This is an intuitive affair. We might even find our own spirit has slipped into the artist's construct and be startled by self-recognition.
